April 23, 2021 – Today we received the most wonderful news! We are able to safely regain access to portions of our building, which include the main floor west wing (Grades 2, 3 & 4) as well as the upper west wing (Grades 5 & 6). These areas have been cleaned and cleared by the restoration company, air quality tests have been conducted, there has been a hygienist here to conduct specialized testing, and the fire department has approved us to return.
Given this new information, we are excited to get our staff back in the building on Monday, April 26 and have students in Grades 2-6 return to in-person learning on Wednesday, April 28. Note: Online learning will continue on Monday and Tuesday for these students, prior to their return to school on Wednesday.
Certain spaces, such as the gymnasium and counselling office will not be accessible while work continues. These areas will be clearly marked and sectioned off.
Currently, one of the areas not approved for occupancy is the upper east wing, impacting our junior high classrooms as well as their entrance/exit location and washrooms. Therefore, students in Grades 7 & 8 will continue with online learning while we anxiously await approval to access these spaces. Although we are disappointed to not be welcoming these students back quite yet, it is incredibly important to us that we bring students back to a safe environment. We will continue to keep parents updated with information as soon as it becomes available.
As always, thank you for your patience and support during this challenging time.
